Notaries shall provide on-site service to the population of 12 villages

From today, the notaries shall be actively involved in the pilot project on land registration system and provide onsite service to the population of 12 villages. Implementation of the project started from the village of Manglisi.

The pilot project is the second stage of the State Reform on Land Registration initiated by the Ministry of Justice of Georgia implemented by the National Agency of Public Registry. Involvement of notaries in this process will significantly simplify and accelerate the land registration process.

 Notaries offer several services to the population:

  • dispute settlement with the assistance of mediator notaries;

In the event of any dispute on agricultural lands, the contending parties shall apply to the mediator notary instead of the court. Notary service is free and the dispute shall be resolved within 3 weeks at the most. Since the enactment of the Law of Georgia “On the Improvement of Cadastral Data and the Procedure for Systematic and Sporadic Registration of Rights to Plots of Land within the Framework of the State Project”, more than 300 disputes have been settled by agreement.

  • confirmation of the authenticity of the parties’ signatures on the deal;

A written agreement shall be concluded by the Parties for the establishment of the fact on the existence of any deal concluded without a proper form (oral or written) on which a notary confirms only the authenticity of the parties’ signatures.

  • Certification of the Power of Attorney in online (via Skype);
  • Notarization of the witness testimony;

In case of arbitrary occupation of the land, a notarized application of witness is required.

  • Certifying the copies of entitling documents;

If the local population refuses to submit the original entitling document to the agency / contractor, the notary shall verify the copies of the documents.

  • Notarized translation;

Some of entitling documents are prepared in a foreign language. All necessary documents that are not made in the state language require a notarized translation.

  • Adjusting the succession documents;

When a person has no succession documents during the land registration, or the time of opening the succession has elapsed, the notary shall assist him in solving this problem.

Manglisi, Jimiti, Arboshiki, Arkhiloskalo, Salkhino, Karaleti, Zaridzeebi, Vedidkari, Lakhamula, Saguramo, Mzisguli, Shuakhevi – the residents of these villages shall be provided onsite the above mentioned notary services.  The notaries shall serve the population once a week.
