The Notary Chamber of Georgia has arranged a special meeting for the notaries who have reached the retirement age. The colleagues and friends hosted Ms. Tamar Vashakidze, Ms. Tatiana Akhvlediani and Ms. Zaira Kutalia.

The Board of the Notary Chamber introduced the new legislative changes to the notaries at the special meeting of the Members of the Notary Chamber of Georgia. There are number of changes in law related to the notary acts certified via direct means of electronic communication (Skype). By a new edition, the notary establishes the identity of notary act participant natural person, including a notary act performed via means of electronic communication, by submitted identity document. At the same time it is permitted to identify the citizens of Georgia or foreigners residing in Georgia by using the data of Public Services Development Agency. In addition, if the notary act is performed by means of electronic communication, the notary shall be obliged to additionally use the ID data of the electronic database. Besides, it’s permitted to certify the power of attorney by using the electronic communication if there is a direct visual contact between the issuer of the power of attorney and the notary. In this case, it is mandatory to record the notary act by using the video file.

The Minister of Justice of Georgia appointed the notaries in 2 municipalities. Vani and Aspindza are the municipalities where the notary service has not been properly available up to day and the population had to go to the nearest towns for the notary services. Aspindza had no notary since 2014, the notary office in Vani terminated its operation from 2015. The Notary who was appointed in May 2014 left the Municipality in 7 months and moved to Tbilisi to work in February 2015. From now, the Notary Ms. Mari Shaverdashvili serves the town of Aspindza and the Notary Mr. Gigi Golubiani - Vani.

The first discussion platform on issues of the land administration and management among the State Authorities was held on March 2 with the support of EU Project “Support the Development of Private and Administrative Law Systems in Georgia”. The goal of this arrangement was to exchange / discuss the information on problems and challenges related to the land registration among the authorities. The public debate was attended by judges, lawyers, the representatives of the National Agency of Public Registry, the Notary Chamber, National Bureau of Enforcement, National Agency of State Property, Architecture and Property Management Service of City Hall, the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development, Agriculture and Environment.
