The Minister of Justice met the Chairman of the International Union of Notaries
The Minister of Justice greatly met the arrival of Mr. José Marqueño de Llano in Georgia and expressed the satisfaction that the International Union had chosen Georgia as the seat of the Meeting of General Council. The meeting was attended by the Deputy Ministers of Justice, Mr. Aleksandre Baramidze and Mr. Giorgi Pataridze, the Chairman of the Notary Chamber, Ms. Nino Khoperia and the Vice-Chairman of European Countries of the International Union of Notaries, Mr. Sigrun Erber-Faller. The discussions focused on the challenges faced by the notary system in the modern world for the overcoming of which all the countries took the proper steps. The Minister of Justice provided the information about the steps taken in Georgia to overcome these challenges to the Chairman of the Union and introduced the reforms that were already undertaken and that would be implemented in future. She also talked about the introduction of the Blockchain system as an additional service in the notary to the guest.
Mr. José Marqueño de Llano positively assessed ongoing reforms in the notary system and congratulated Georgia for the development of the continental system of notary.
Mr. José Marqueño de Llano visits Georgia within the framework of the Meeting of General Council of the International Union of Notaries, which hosts the Notary Chamber of Georgia. The General Council session is attended by about 200 notaries from around 90 countries. Within the framework of the visit, the meeting was already held with the Chairman of the Legal Affairs Committee of the Parliament of Georgia. A visit to the Supreme Court is planned.
The Notary Chamber of Georgia became a member of the International Union of Notaries in 2007. Georgia was declared one of the active members of the Union at the 6th Plenary Session of the European Affairs Commission of the International Union of Notaries in 2016. The Notary Chamber of Georgia not only regularly participates in international meetings and conferences, considers the recommendations of the Union of Latin Notariat, but hosts the international conferences as well. Last year, one of the large-scale conferences was held successfully in Georgia directly with the initiative and efforts of the Minister of Justice. The Minister was thanked for the expressed outstanding attention towards the guests at the 6th Plenary Session of the European Affairs Commission.
